Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Wavealert for?

Wavealert is for investors who manage their portfolio themselves and act according to their own rules. It is especially useful if you hold several positions over weeks or months and do not want to check every day whether one of your rules has been triggered. Wavealert is not designed for day trading with real-time prices.

Is Wavealert investment advice?

No. Wavealert does not recommend securities or specific buy or sell timing. You define your own alert thresholds and strategy. Wavealert informs you when one of your conditions is met; how you react is up to you.

Which assets can I monitor with Wavealert?

You can monitor stocks, ETFs, cryptocurrencies, as well as gold and silver in one shared list. An asset can be part of your portfolio or just on your watchlist. In both cases, you can create matching alerts and notes.

What information do I see for a position in my portfolio?

Wavealert shows details such as ISIN, WKN, and the available price for each asset. If you have entered quantity and purchase price, you also see the invested amount, current value, and your result in currency and percent. This helps you understand how your individual positions are developing.

Which price alerts can I set?

You can define three kinds of conditions:
  • Price threshold: The price moves above or below a value you set.
  • Price change over a period: An asset rises or falls by a defined percentage within a period you choose.
  • 50- or 200-day line: The price crosses one of these lines upward or downward.

Can I track my own buy and sell rules with Wavealert?

Yes. For example, you can set an alert for a target buy price or for a threshold where you want to review an existing position. You can store what you plan to do and why as a strategy note on the asset. An alert does not execute a trade: it reminds you to review your rule and decide yourself.

Do I need to constantly monitor my portfolio?

Wavealert handles monitoring for the price events you define. If one of your alert conditions is met during a price check, you receive an email notification. How often you review your portfolio beyond that is up to you.

How current are Wavealert prices?

No. Prices are updated every 10 minutes. Wavealert is designed for rules and decisions with a longer time horizon, not for second-by-second trading decisions.

Can I enter individual buys and sells?

Yes. For each buy or sell, you can record date, price, and quantity. You can find an asset's previous transactions in its edit view.

What are strategy notes for?

You can store why you hold or watch an asset and what you want to check when a certain signal appears. Your note is also shown in the alert email. This way, you see not only the price move but also your predefined plan. More about strategy notes.

What does the community feature show me?

You see active community alerts and an overview of the strongest price moves in stocks watched by the community. These signals can draw your attention to assets you are not yet tracking. You can review them and adopt them as your own alerts if useful. Both views are available to all users, including the free plan. More about community alerts.
